Payment-method questions
| Question | Card payment link | Bank transfer |
|---|---|---|
| How does the customer pay? | Supported checkout method | Customer’s banking process |
| What reference is retained? | Processor transaction and invoice association | Bank reference requiring matching |
| What does it cost? | Current processor/account terms | Current banking/account terms |
| When is money available? | Verified settlement conditions | Verified transfer/account conditions |
| What exceptions arise? | Failed payments, refunds or disputes | Missing reference or mistaken allocation |
Use the current terms of your own accounts. Do not describe bank transfer as universally free or a card payment as money in the bank immediately.
Reconcile gross payment and net settlement
An illustrative customer pays EUR 100 by card. The processor’s fee may make the net amount received smaller. Record the customer’s full payment correctly and account for the fee separately; the difference is not automatically a remaining customer debt.
JobDiary’s card-payment story uses the business’s own Stripe account. Check the actual connection and account requirements. This page does not claim direct debit, every bank connection or a particular settlement time.
Choose a method the customer can use and the office can reconcile reliably. Include verified payment details with the invoice, and check changes carefully through the business’s established process.
