Small crews
What should crew members see in a job app?
A crew member should see the jobs and site information needed to work, the actions they are authorised to record and a clear exception contact.

The short answer
A crew member should see the jobs and site information needed to work, the actions they are authorised to record and a clear exception contact.
A crew member should see the jobs and site information needed to work, the actions they are authorised to record and a clear exception contact. Financial and administrative access should be tested separately. A focused screen is not proof of a security permission.
Explore the wider office and field crews guides for the steps around this decision.
A role-review matrix
| Task | Owner | Office | Crew |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plan and assign work | Decide business responsibility | Support where authorised | View relevant assignment |
| Agreed scope | Approve relevant changes | Maintain the record | Read work instructions |
| Field evidence | Review | Use for handover/billing | Record authorised actions |
| Price and invoice changes | Authorise | Handle only if permitted | Do not assume access |
| Account administration | Control | Limited as appropriate | No assumed permission |
The matrix is a suggested business policy, not a statement that every listed restriction is already enforced by JobDiary.
Test with separate accounts
Check what each role can read and change, including direct access to a record and not merely the visible navigation. Use synthetic data for the test. Ask how access changes are applied and how a former team member is removed.
JobDiary’s current product boundary includes owner, office and crew views, and its crew code uses session permissions with the server remaining authoritative. That does not justify promising a precise financial-data restriction without checking the live account configuration.
Keep the initial crew tasks small: find the right job, read the scope, record the supported outcome and flag an exception. Expand access only for a demonstrated business need.
Connect this to the next step
Continue with How to record crew hours against the right job. If the next issue is elsewhere in the workflow, use How to schedule jobs for two crews without double-booking.
See JobDiary crew scheduling to check how the product supports this work. Use the current product description and a trial to verify the fit for your business.
